Upender Paswan elected Mukhia again: Chakauti's hopes associated with him

Chakauti Panchayat Election Results 2011

Upender Paswan elected Chakauti Mukhiya for the second time.  He has great plans. He has vowed to get Chakauti Village connected by good motorable tar road with the Block Offices at Bokhra and Nanpur.  This will uplift the lives of villagers not only in Banrahi tola and Darrima tola, but also Bharaon and Katraul.  The road connecting Darrima  with Mushhari Tola and Malahtoli of Chakauti are also planned to be upgraded.

However the Government does not yet have any plans
to connect Pandit Tola with the village either through
motorable road or through electricity connection.

Vinod Manjhi, former  Mukhiya had an uphill task this time.  Govt's Rural Development Assistance  reached few BPL families under his regime. He developed large number of rivals. http://chakautivillage.blogspot.com/2011/05/mukhiya-ji.html

There were nine candidates for  Mukhiya's post, namely

1) विनोद माझी
2) बुलंद माझी
3) राम अवतार माझी
4) उपेंदर पासवान
5) रजिंदर पासवान
6) ललित पासवान
7) श्याम राम
8) फूल बदन देवी
9) शांति देवी

Some of them have long criminal records having served several years of prison on criminal charges.

Nagendra Jha, Earstwhile Chakauti Mukhia of 20th Century has larger political views and ambitions. He is quite active in Congress Politics. He had written a detailed Election Manifesto on behalf of Indian National Congress for the purpose of Bihar Assembly Elections in 2010 and forwarded it to Ms. Sonia Gandhi, the Congress President. Bihar Congress Chief Coordinator had offered him a ticket for the Assembly Elections.  However, in his selfless style, he recommended the name of Shri Gajadhar Thakur for the ticket, who eventually lost the seat. Other ex-Mukhiyas, who have clean records, though desire to continue in village politics, are debarred on the grounds of belonging to the majority population upper castes.
